FAQs

When was the official decision made to close the pool? Was it before or after the roofing began?

The plan was to reopen the pool and due to construction, that timeline continued to be pushed back. We took advantage of the time the pool was closed to get quotes to fix some of the issues the pool had been having. When the cost to get the pool operational was provided, the conversation officially began with the board.

How much money was our facility paying to the YMCA organization? This was listed as a large deciding factor to disaffiliate with the YMCA and become a completely local, independent organization.

Our facility was paying approximately $48,000-$50,000 annually in dues and fees to the YMCA organization alone.

How is the money that is being saved being spent?

It is used to pay operating expenses and for maintenance. The funds saved were used to keep the organization open as financially we were behind on a lot of things, and still are. This was a way to ‘stop the bleeding’ financially.

How much will it cost to fill in the pool?

We have been quoted about $50,000 to fill in the pool for us to repurpose the current pool area.

When is the repurposing of the pool area going to take place?

As we are able to obtain the funds over time, we will put it toward repurposing the aquatics space. We are estimating this to take place around 2025-2026.

Is the roof finished? How did CORE get the funding to replace the roof?

Construction to the roof was completed in 2024 and funding was provided by The Community Foundation of Howard, Clinton, and Carroll Counties.

How do Insurance Paid Memberships work?

To activate an insurance paid membership, bring in your insurance card and ID to the Welcome Center at CORE. Insurance Paid Memberships do not pay CORE for a flat monthly rate of membership. Each program is different, but the most common is to pay a certain dollar amount per visit, up to a certain number of visits per month. If the membership is not utilized, CORE does not receive any payment, and the membership will go inactive in our system. This does not prompt any fees or payment required from the member on our end, we will just have to go through the administrative process to reactivate your membership! To avoid this, we ask that you use the facility at least 3 times/month.

We accept the following insurance paid memberships:

  • Silver + Fit
  • Active + Fit
  • Silver Sneakers
  • Renew Active
  • One Pass
  • Gym Pass
